Daddy and Madi Campout

Madi Kaye has been talking about and begging to go camping for quite a while.  We are not really the "camping" type of family, but we didn't want to squelch our baby girl's excitement, so we decided to give it a shot!  Well...Andy decided to give it a shot...Micah and I are still a little too chicken!  :)

We decided to campout in the backyard for our first camping experience to see how Madi would do.
I'll let the pictures do the explaining...  :)

Madi and Daddy making a list of all they need for their camping adventure!  (Does this surprise you?)

Gathering wood for the campfire (sorry the picture is sideways!)

Proud of their stack of branches and sticks!

Helping Daddy put up the tent

Little man LOVED being outside in all the action too!  He loves playing in the playhouse!

So proud of the set-up tent!

Think she's a little excited???

She had to add her own personal touches to the tint...princess sleeping bag, Ha-Ha monkey, and all!

Suppertime!  Get that fire going, Daddy!  This took at least 30 minutes...which was a long time for an impatient little girl!

Micah killed time by playing with Gracie.  A boy and his dog...so precious!

Finally got the fire going!  Time to roast some hot dogs!  Yum yum!

Everybody enjoying their hot dogs and chips!

Of course...gotta roast some marshmallows for smores!

Madi LOVED her smore!  Almost as much as her mommy!  :)

This little man was a MESS!  He was covered in dirt, cheese puffs, juice, and ketchup.  He had a good bath after all that fun!  :)

Still so excited!

Just a-swangin'
Our fire went out about 7:30, and we still had a little time to kill before dark, so we decided to go play in the front yard with our neighbor friends.  Madi had a blast catching lightning bugs, but I forgot to take pictures.
A little after 8, Madi and daddy headed back to their tent and Micah and I headed inside for bath and bed.  Here are my precious ones, all snuggled in for the night!
And...they made it all night!  Andy said they read a few books, and then Madi said she wanted to go to sleep and fell asleep around 9:30.  She slept all night long and woke up about 6:45 the next morning.  Andy, on the other hand, came in the house at 7:00 and crashed for a couple of hours!  But he said it was all worth it because his princess had a blast!
Looks like we might give camping at Sardis Lake a try next time!  :)
