A Week of Firsts

Madi has had a week of "firsts," which I know is not uncommon at 2 months old. Yes - 2 months - can you believe it? EVERYBODY said to enjoy her because she'll grow up so fast. And you were right!

Our first "first" this week was a slef-inflicted scratch to her face. You can see it in the picture below. It's under her right eye. Not very big, but it did bleed a little...but mommy was hurt even more! We had attempted to clip her fingernails several times. Once, they bled. Another time, she cried bloody murder. But - after this, we finally got them clipped.

Our next "first" is our first trip shopping! Madi had her 2 month shots on Tuesday, so we took her shopping today. You can see Jennifer pushing her in her stroller below. She slept part of the time, but we know she enjoyed it anyway! We went to Bed Bath & Beyond, Best Buy, Belk, and Books-A-Million. No, we didn't plan to only go to places that began with "B." :)

This last "first" hurt mommy's heart, too. Last night was Madi's first night in her crib...in her room! At our doctor's appointment, he said that between 2 months and 6 months, you should put your baby in the crib to get them used to putting themselves to sleep and staying that way...and the sooner the better. He started his own children at 2 months. So...with much debate and heartache (and a little encouragement from Daddy), Mommy let Madi sleep in her own bed last night. She did pretty well...and so did Madi. :) We're hoping Madi will sleep better through the night and skip a feeding; babies this age generally will go 6 hours during the night. However, this was not the case last night. She did go 4 hours, but that's it. We think Madi has her days and nights mixed up. She slept ok last night, but was awake a little, too. And she slept a lot during the day today. Maybe she'll figure it out soon. Any suggestions? Below, you can see her in her big girl bed! :)

Here's a slideshow with some more pictures....again, you can go to the website by clicking the blue button on the bottom right side and see the pictures larger.

What a joy this little one has been! We love her so much! And we can't wait to share more "firsts" with you!

Have you read "Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child"? I recommend this book to everyone because it is so great!
